Trying something new....

Well, well, I am sitting at home trying to get my Internet sauvy self to do something I wouldn't normally do....blog and drive.

We'll see how this goes....

The office is done. We only have 4 more days until we open for the season. We presented the governor his tree. We didn't give the tree, but we were present for the presentation. It is bittersweet to know that this is my last year to do this.

I love the way the farm has turned out. The ole' time feeling is truly there. I just wish I had enough money for a faux fireplace! :)

Today I am heading out to the farm to work on the Office. I have updated the Website. I have added some pictures from families from last year! I am excited to see what pictures I can take this year.

Susan and I decided on a brown for the office. I hope it looks okay....we'll see. The paint is bought, so no going back now!

Pumpkin Patch Visit

We ventured forth to Schakke's Pumpkin Patch in Lawrence, KS today. We took the whole family! All 10 of us enjoyed experiencing a farm instead of working one. It was fun. We couldn't believe how quickly you can "turn" around a pumpkin. It takes almost 8 years to grow a Christmas tree to be between 5-8 feet! Geez. Bob should have planted his 10 acres with pumpkins. Why did he chose trees?

This week I will start painting the office. I will keep you posted on how it goes.

6/2/10

My 2nd post. Yeah! Today I am working on creating a Presentation to be made at the summer meeting of all the Christmas Tree Growers in KS. We are a small group, but one that knows how to reap what you sow! Literally. We will discuss the bugs, the problems, the good and the ugly of growing Christmas trees in a state where it either pours or there is drought!

I am a bad tree farmer as I haven't worked on the farm since March/April. I took off the last several months to be a Mom, Wife and teacher. I teach English Comp. 101 & 102 in my spare time at Butler County Community College located in Andover, KS. I love teaching there--actually there is no there, because I teach online.

Enough. I need to put together my presentation!

5/19/10

Well, here we go. My first post in the world of Technology! I am getting ready to give a presentation on blogs, Facebook and Twitter at the KS Christmas Tree Growers Association Summer Meeting, so I better get myself in gear!

I will be tweeting tomorrow night, but tonight is just a test run for becoming a tree farmer who blogs about her day.

It rained almost 2 inches today. That was the end of the farming. We played inside!
